Record Store Day questions, answered

The things people ask us at the counter every April and every November.

What is Record Store Day?

Record Store Day is a twice-yearly event created in 2007 to support independently owned record shops. Hundreds of artists and labels press limited runs of records - reissues, live recordings, coloured variants, unreleased material - that are sold only in participating independent stores, only on the day, and nowhere online. There are two of them each year: the main event on a Saturday in April, and Record Store Day Black Friday in November. It has grown into the busiest day of the year for most shops, and the reason a lot of people set foot in a record store for the first time.

When is Record Store Day 2026?

Record Store Day happens twice a year. The main event lands on a Saturday every April, and the second one, Record Store Day Black Friday, falls on Friday, November 27, 2026 - the day after Thanksgiving. Black Friday is the next one up, and it is the one we are taking lists for right now. The spring date for 2027 is announced by Record Store Day over the winter, and we post it here and on our Instagram the moment it is official. Both events work the same way: a list of exclusive records is announced a few weeks ahead, independent shops order against it, and whatever arrives goes on sale in store on the day.

When is Record Store Day 2027?

The spring 2027 date has not been announced yet. Record Store Day publishes it over the winter, usually a few months ahead, and it has always landed on a Saturday in April - the 2026 event was in April. As soon as the official date is out we post it here, on our events page and on Instagram, and the list of exclusive titles follows a few weeks after that. If you want the short version: bookmark this page, or come in and ask, because we will know before most people do.

Where can I celebrate Record Store Day in Miami?

Endo Records and Music is an officially participating Record Store Day shop in South Miami, at 10577 SW 109th Court. We are a few minutes from Dadeland and easy to reach from Kendall, Pinecrest, Coral Gables, South Miami and the Redland. On the day the shop opens early, the crates come out front, there is coffee going, and we usually have a band or a DJ playing through the morning. A handful of other independent stores across Miami-Dade and Broward take part as well, and each one gets its own allocation, so if a title does not turn up here it is worth calling around. We are happy to point you somewhere else if we come up short on the record you came for.

Is there a Record Store Day near me in South Florida?

If you are anywhere in south Miami-Dade, yes - we are at 10577 SW 109th Court, minutes from Kendall, Pinecrest, Coral Gables, South Miami and Dadeland, and an easy drive from the Redland and Homestead. There are participating shops further north in Miami-Dade and up into Broward as well, and Record Store Day keeps an official list of every participating store on their own site. Each shop orders separately, so it is genuinely worth checking more than one if there is a specific title you are set on.

Where can I buy Record Store Day releases in Miami?

In an independent record shop, on the day, in person. That is the whole design of it - RSD exclusives are not sold online, not sold in advance, and not stocked by chains or big-box stores. Endo is an officially participating shop in South Miami, so the titles we are allocated go on the shelves here at 8:00 AM on the day. A handful of other independent Miami stores take part too, and each gets its own allocation, so the same record can turn up at one shop and not another. Anything we have left over goes on this website the following morning at 8:00 AM.

What time should I get there on Record Store Day?

Doors open at 8:00 AM on Black Friday, November 27. People start lining up outside before that, and for the scarcer titles the line is the whole story - a record pressed at fifteen hundred copies nationally might be two or three copies in our bins. If there is one specific record you cannot leave without, come early. If you are browsing and happy to be surprised, mid-morning is calmer, the coffee is still hot, and there is usually plenty left to dig through. We do not hand out numbered tickets or take names at the door. It is first come, first served, and it has always sorted itself out politely.

Can I pre-order or put a hold on a Record Store Day record?

No, and no shop can. Record Store Day rules bar participating stores from selling, reserving, or taking deposits on RSD titles before the event itself. That applies to everyone, and a shop that breaks it risks losing its participation. So we cannot take your money, hold a copy behind the counter, or promise you anything in advance - not for a regular, not for family, not for anyone. What we can do is find out what people actually want before we place our order, which is what the checklist on this site is for.

Then how do I make sure you order the record I want?

Put it on the checklist. When the Black Friday list is published in early October, every title appears on our checklist page and you tick the ones you plan to buy. We add those up and order against the real numbers instead of guessing. It costs nothing, it takes about a minute, and it is the single most useful thing you can do if there is a title you care about. It is not a reservation and it does not hold a copy - it just means we know to ask for it. A record nobody lists is a record we might order one of, or none.

If I submit a checklist, am I guaranteed a copy?

No. Every Record Store Day title is allocated, which means the pressing gets divided across hundreds of independent shops nationally. We tell our distributor how many we want and they tell us what we are getting, and those two numbers are rarely the same. Ordering twenty copies of something does not mean twenty copies arrive. What your checklist does is make sure we ask for the right things in the right quantities, and that the records with real demand behind them are the ones we push for. On the day it is still first come, first served in the shop.

What happens to leftover Record Store Day titles?

Anything still in the bins at closing goes online here the next morning at 8:00 AM, at the same price it was in the shop. No early access, no holds, no sneak links - it goes up when it goes up. You will find whatever is left in the carousel at the top of this page. If it is empty, it either sold through or the drop has not happened yet. Leftovers do tend to move fast online, because the people who could not make it in person are watching the clock, so it is worth setting an alarm.

Is there a limit on how many copies I can buy?

One copy per title per person, unless there is clearly plenty to go around later in the day. It is not a rule we enjoy enforcing, but with allocations this thin it is the only way a reasonable number of people get to take something home. We also do not sell to resellers knowingly, and we have a long memory. If you are buying for a friend who is stuck at work, that is fine - just say so.

Do Record Store Day releases actually sell out?

The scarce ones do, usually within the first hour. Pressing runs on RSD exclusives range from a few hundred copies nationally to twenty thousand or more, and that number tells you most of what you need to know. Anything under a thousand is effectively gone before lunch. Titles in the five to ten thousand range are usually still around in the afternoon, and some sit in the bins for weeks. We show the national pressing figure next to every title on the checklist page so you can judge for yourself which ones are worth an early alarm.

Can I buy Record Store Day titles from you online?

Not on the day itself. RSD exclusives are in-store only on Record Store Day and on Black Friday, which is a condition of taking part, and it is also the point - the whole thing exists to get people through the doors of independent shops. Anything left over goes up on this site the following morning at 8:00 AM, and from that moment it is a normal record you can buy like any other. The rest of our catalogue, new and used, is online year round.

What is the difference between Record Store Day in April and Black Friday?

Same idea, different scale. The April event is the big one - a long list of exclusives, hundreds of titles, lines around the block. Record Store Day Black Friday is a shorter list, usually more reissues and holiday-friendly releases, and the atmosphere is a little calmer. Both are in-store only, both are allocated, and both work off the same list-and-order process. Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27, and the full title list is published in early October.

I am new to vinyl. Is Record Store Day worth coming to?

Yes, and probably more than you would guess. The exclusives get the attention, but the day itself is the best time of year to be in a record shop - the whole store is out, prices are normal, and there are a few hundred people around who are all happy to tell you what to listen to. Plenty of the RSD titles are reissues of records that are genuinely good rather than merely rare. Come for the music, stay for the coffee, and do not feel obliged to queue at seven in the morning for a picture disc.

What else happens at the shop on the day?

Live music, coffee, and a lot of people flipping through crates. We usually have a local band or a DJ playing from mid-morning, and the used sections get restocked heavily the week before because we know the shop will be full. It is an easy morning to bring someone who has never been in a record store. If you want to know who is playing this year, check the events page or follow us on Instagram, where we post the lineup a couple of weeks out.

Where exactly are you, and is there parking?

We are at 10577 SW 109th Court, Miami, FL 33176, just off North Kendall Drive in South Miami. There is free parking in the lot and along the street, and on Record Store Day mornings it fills up, so give yourself a few extra minutes or park a block out and walk. Normal hours are Monday to Saturday from noon to 7:00 PM and Sunday from noon to 5:00 PM, and you can reach us at (305) 452-8636 any time we are open.

The Black Friday list drops in early October.

Tell us which titles you actually plan to buy and we will order against real numbers instead of guessing. It takes about a minute and it costs nothing.
